A composite control strategy for sensorless and low-noise operation of switched reluctance motor drive

In this paper, a composite control strategy for the sensorless and low-noise operation of switched reluctance (SR) motor drives is proposed. In the proposed method, the DC bus voltage is varied as a function of speed and the motor is operated in single pulse mode for wide speed range. Such a controller reduces the acoustic noise and improves the accuracy of estimation. The algorithm is tested on a 4-phase 8/6 pole, 4 kW SRM and the test results of acoustic noise, position estimation are presented.
