Critical speeds and sizes of liquid globules

A liquid globule that has a translatory motion relative to air, is split up if the speed exceeds a critical value or, inversely, if at a given speed the size of the globule is greater than a critical value. The criterion for determining whether or not the antagonism between air forces and surface tension will lead to splitting-up, is the relevant value of Weber's number.
