Local congestion control scheme using priority jumping technique with movable-threshold

This Letter addresses the need for maintaining a better performance for two types of service class (i.e. delay-sensitive and loss-sensitive) namely voice and data in an integrated services packet network. A proposed scheme called priority jump with a movable threshold (PJ-MT) is used to control this traffic. Results are presented from a computer simulation study of the scheme. Furthermore, a comparative performance study indicates that voice delay can be maintained within a quality-of-service (QOS) limit using the proposed scheme.
