Finite element method electrical impedance tomography for phase distribution determination in multiphase flows: Validation calculations and experiments

A finite-element-method (FEM) implementation of electrical-impedance tomography (EIT) is described in which the spatial variation of the electrical conductivity is represented by a function with a modest number of adjustable parameters. The FEMEIT algorithm is applied to both numerical and experimental data sets generated from prescribed conductivity fields. Good agreement is found between the prescribed and reconstructed conductivity fields in both circumstances.
