Leader Development in Army Units: Views from the Field

Abstract : Army leaders believe that a very significant contribution to their leader development comes from their experience in operational assignments. Yet there are few studies that indicate whether Army units even have leader development programs, and if they do, what the programs consist of and how well they are executed. The Center for Army Leadership (CAL) asked RAND Arroyo Center to help the Army identify effective and feasible leader development programs in operational units.
