Research productivity in computer science field for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2000–2013

Numerous studies have indicated enhanced productivity results for computer science (CS) researchers as well as their respective institutions. This paper aims to evaluate the research productivity of a Malaysian university, namely, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) concentrating in particular on the CS researchers. The author uses the Scopus database which is known as the most accessible bibliographic database to world scientific research. There are some 3102 research works which have been produced by CS researchers at UTM. The highest number of these (2095) have been published as conference papers; followed by 957 papers in the article category. These are covered by the database from the period 2000 to 2013. One of the most significant findings is that most publications have been co-authored. This serves to boost collaboration initiative with the respective faculty members in the university or from other universities.
