An improved snare catheter for retrieving embolized fragments of polyethylene tubing.

A modification of the doubled-over guide wire technique for retrieval of embolized catheter particles is described. Affixing the flexible end of an exchange guide wire to the outer proximal edge of a No. 6 or 7F cardiac catheter permits easier manipulation of longer catheters, and avoids adherence of the guide wire to the inner catheter lumen.
