Ballast on the track shows uncertain material property and nonlinear behavior by variety of site conditions, so that various studies are going on to simulate its phenomena as a numerical analysis. Generally diverse numerical analysis methods such as FEM(Finite Element Method), DEM(Discrete Element Method) are used to analyze the behavior of ballast. In case of DEM, it can imitate contact behavior of particle well, but it needs much more time consuming than FEM due to identifying material properties and analysis time. In this study, vertical behavior is analyzed according to sleeper types using the FEM. And the difference of behavior is analyzed according to 3 ballast models, Elastic model, Mohr-coulomb model, and Extended drucker prager model.
