Control of variable‐speed wind turbines by LPV gain scheduling

This article considers gain-scheduling control of variable-speed wind energy conversion systems (WECS) in the context of linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems. The typical problems of the classic gain-scheduling techniques, such as stability guarantees, undesirable transient responses in the controller commutations and arduous design procedures, can be avoided with this new formulation. A model of a variable-speed WECS expressed in LPV form and an optimal LPV gain-scheduling control strategy are presented. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
