Innovation Trends for Smart Factories: A Literature Review

The purpose of this article is to analyze the different dimensions of innovation in order to create a smart factory, including emerging technologies and their impacts on the operations management process, and besides, the digital competencies needed to cope with technological and organizational changes. The main findings of the systematic literature review were Artificial Intelligence, Big data, 3D Printing, Robotization, Internet of Things, and Augmented Reality. The results can help factories to be prepared for the digital transformation process and become a smart factory to meet the challenges of an ever-changing economy.
