Significance of vibration modes in noise and vibration generation of switched reluctance motors

The vibration modes in switched reluctance motors are analyzed by finite element analysis and experiments. The significance of symmetric and antisymmetric modes, odd and even order modes, salient poles and the rotor eccentricity etc. on the noise and vibration generation is investigated, and an identification technique for measuring the natural frequencies of switched reluctance motors is proposed.
