Virtual-prototype-based dynamic lightening design

Aiming at the problems in the strength calculation of lightening design process,such as static loads and boundary conditions,low efficiency and low level of automatization,a dynamic lightening design method based on virtual prototype(VP) was proposed as a solution.A VP-based simulation of crank-train was executed.Using the simulation results of dynamic loads and boundary conditions for the FE strength calculation,the dynamic strength calculation on multi-moments could be conducted.Based on the calculation results,the accuracy,efficiency and automatization level of the whole design process could be improved to a great extent.Taking the single-cylindered engine block as an example,the application procedure was introduced,from VP constructing to pre/post-processing of FEM,then to lightening modification,A dependability test on the small-scaled trial product practically proved the feasibility and dependability of the new design method.
