The Fast Amsterdam Multiprocessor (FAMP) system

Abstract A fast multiprocessor system is described that can be used for second stage triggering purposes as well as for on-line track filtering in high energy physics experiments. The system is based on the MC68000 microprocessor from MOTOROLA. Using a subset of the experimental data the system can be programmed to perform real time computations; i.e. track reconstruction, momentum determination and missing mass determination.
