Personnel Dosimetry at Accelerator Laboratories

Three complementary topics are covered: the various rationales for personnel monitoring practices at accelerator laboratories, current monitoring practices at these laboratories, and some possible future developments. The discussion is based largely on a number of conference proceedings and review articles. Many of the points made apply equally well to other types of facilities; accelerators are unique primarily in regard to the types of radiation present and the rapidity with which operating conditions change.
