O MEDO NA NARRATIVA FANTÁSTICA: A REPRESENTAÇÃO LITERÁRIA E CINEMATOGRÁFICA DOS PERSONAGENS DE IT - A COISA

Research that focuses on forms of fear representation in interart studies have received few attention by the critical literary universe.  The present study aims to investigate the representation of fear in literature and cinema by analysing the characters of Stephen King's novel It, written in 1986, and the namesake Andy Muschietti movie, produced in 2017. To this end we build on the literary scholarship of Tuan (2005), King (2013), Vanoye (2012), Roas (2014), Martin (2003), Aumont (2013), among others. While the literary text uses specific narrative resources to potentiate the unlikely and amplify terror, cinema produces an adaptation from images, plans and frames, to reveal anguished and terrified individuals. Therefore, our work seeks to show these concepts, and from them, to map fear more significantly in the territory of literature and cinema.
