MEMS magneto-mechanical microvalves (MMMS) for aerodynamic active flow control

Abstract Actuators based on micro-magneto-mechanical systems (MMMS) for active flow control are presented. A magnetodynamic microvalve of pulsed microjets providing 150 m/s jet velocities through submillimetric holes, and microactuators based on nanostructured magnetostrictive films with induced magnetic instability of spin reorientation transition type, providing high sensitivity to the driving magnetic field.
