A pulse shaping method for UWB avoiding the frequency coexistence interference with WLAN

The pulse waveform design is an important factor that is related to the system performance. A new method to generate orthogonal UWB shaping pulses is proposed based on the eigenvectors of Hermitian matrix and Gram-Schmidt process, which have no interference to IEEE 802.11a WLAN systems when they coexist with each other, and the desired shaping pulses are given. The simulation results show that the power spectral density distribution of the short time pulses generated with this method is fit to the constraint of FCC spectral mask of UWB and have high spectrum efficiency. When used in multiple access schemes, this method can not only reduce the interference of multi-users, but also avoid the frequency coexistence interference between UWB communication systems and WLAN systems
