Apparatus and method for managing indexing information file of external device

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for managing an indexing information file of an external device are provided to efficiently manage indexing information files for various external devices by storing a new indexing information file at the external device and a broadcasting receiver after generating the new indexing information file. CONSTITUTION: Plural indexing information files are collectively stored and managed in a particularly folder(S10). In the cased of the connection with a certain external device(S11), it is checked whether or not the indexing information file is stored in the external device(S12). If the indexing information file is searched(S13), it is checked whether or not the searched indexing information file is identical to one of the indexing information files(S14). If not, the stored indexing information file is updated based on the indexing information file of the external device(S15).
