An inexpensive transducer for remote determination of arterial blood pressure.

A low-cost transducer for monitoring arterial blood pressure by remote auscultation is described. It employs a miniature earphone attached to the diaphragm of a conventional stethoscope. The Korotkov sounds picked up by the diaphragm are converted to electrical signals by the earphone. These are amplified and monitored over a loudspeaker or headphones.
