SOUND = SPACE: an interactive musical environment

A space measuring anywhere from 1m2 to 100m2 is surveyed by an ultrasonic echolocation system. This system measures the precise positions of persons within the space and conveys the information to a computer controlling sound synthesizers. Their presence and movement within this space, without touching anything, allows persons to interact with the synthesizers, to trigger sounds and control complex parameters of a music composed in real time by a computer.
