Parameters of Evaluating Free Hosting Solutions

Before choosing a free server, it is important to evaluate its features in order to test its suitability for your hosting. This is particularly important as more than 90% of the so-called free servers are run by commercial hosting companies in order to attract customers for their hosting business. These so-called free servers provide very limited and conditional free hosting services and intend to sell their premium hosting packages to the free hosting customers in due course. Hence, it is important to not get carried away by their alluring advertisements rather evaluate each important aspect of the host, including its business intentions, years of providing free hosting, type of control panel and conditions in hosting. While choosing a free hosting server you should never expect nor evaluate on the basis of highly expensive features (like 99.99% uptime), impossible features (like unlimited hosting), confusing features (like 24x7 user support) etc. We should be reasonable in our expectations and more importantly match the features with our requirements. Similarly some free hosts may appear to be too restricting but actually are not. For example, a free host may not allow you more than 5 email accounts or more than 5 MySQL databases or more than 5 add-on domains etc. But these limitations are actually not problematic, as 99% of the clients will not require more than that. Free hosting is a very good solution if the free host provides all the essential features you require.
