LARGE EDDY SIMULATION OF NEAR GROUND TURBULENT WIND FIELD

Turbulent inflow is required for the simulation of time-dependent pressure on bluff body-shaped civil engineering structures. In present study, the turbulent inflow is achieved by means of periodic boundary condition which is set at the inlet plane of a turbulent developed flat plate. A constant streamwise pressure gradient is introduced to NS equation to balance the wall shear stress. Reasonable numerical result of turbulent inflow is drawn from present calculation, and streamwise velocity profile is successfully preserved by the pressure gradient. Turbulent boundary layer in present simulation holds characteristics of near ground wind field with low turbulent intensity, and the result can serve as a reference for wind resistant research in open area.
