Duplex Sonography and Color Doppler of Arteriovenous Malformations

Examinations of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and other benign vascular abnormalities are increasingly common in the noninvasive vascular laboratory, as the technology of duplex sonography and color Doppler has made the evaluation of these entities easier and more accurate. The prognosis and selection of appropriate therapy depend on accurate characterization of the extent and type of the malformation. We will discuss the classification of vascular malformations, present two illustrative cases involving duplex sonography, discuss the various diagnostic methods available
