Primary ovarian leiomyomas : A case report and review of the literature

ABSTRACT Primary ovarian leiomyomas are uncommon benign tumors that are usually asymptomatic. Distinguishing them from other ovarian tumors is important in order to render the appropriate prognosis and treatment. The authors describe a 6 × 7 cm primary ovarian leiomyoma in a 45-year-old woman that was surgically managed. The histologie and immunohistochemical characteristics and pathogenesis are presented.
