Service-Dominant Logic as a Framework for Innovation within Networks

This work explores the potential for utilising the service-dominant (S-D) logic of Vargo and Lusch (2004, 2006, 2008a, 2008c) as a framework for innovation processes from a network perspective. The work presents a conceptual framework for the subsequent empirical study of this issue by undertaking a literature review of S-D logic; value co-creation; (iii) and innovation seen in terms of the knowledge relationship and value. Based on qualitative findings from case studies the work develops an interpretive framework that posits innovation in terms of the S-D notion of ‘value co-creation’ and the emerging concept of ‘value innovation’. The work concludes that S-D logic provides useful insights for the development of network-based, value-generating innovation processes.
