An Advanced Human-Robot Interaction Interface for Collaborative Robotic Assembly Tasks

Thisarticleintroducesanadvancedhuman-robotinteraction(HRI)interfacethatallowsteaching newassembly tasks to collaborative robotic systems.Usingadvancedperceptionand simulation technologies,theinterfaceprovidesthepropertoolsforanon-expertusertoteacharobotanew assemblytaskinashortamountoftime.AnRGBDcameraisusedtoallowtheusertodemonstratethe taskandthesystemextractstheneededinformationfortheassemblytobesimulatedandperformedby therobot,whiletheuserguidestheprocess.TheHRIinterfaceisintegratedwiththeROSframework andisbuiltasawebapplicationallowingoperationthroughportabledevices,suchasatabletPC. Theinterfaceisevaluatedwithuserexperienceratingfromtestsubjectsthatarerequestedtoteach afoldingassemblytasktotherobot.
