Folliculitis decalvans is a chronic inflammation of the scalp. Treatment is difficult and relapses are frequent. Powell et al. (1999) have described a treatment regimen with a combination of oral rifampin and clindamycin. All 18 reported patients noticed improvement. We here present our experience with 17 patients using the same combined rifampin-clindamycin therapy. In our series, all patients seen after 10 weeks for follow-up (n = 14) showed marked improvement of scalp inflammation. In 10 of 11 patients with pustulation, this symptom disappeared. Relapses of the disease occurred in 5 patients after a mean time of 10.6 weeks.
