Model Engineering for Complex System Simulation

Model is the foundation of system simulation,especially for complex system simulation,and the key that guarantees the trustiness of simulation results is to construct a dependable model. To meet the challenges of model development and management of a complex system,the concept of model engineering was proposed,which aimed at setting up a systematic,normalized,and quantifiable engineering methodology by exploring basic principles in model construction,management and maintenance to manage the data,processes and organizations/people involved in the whole lifecycle of a model to obtain a dependable model. The meaning and contents of model engineering were given,and a set of key technologies were introduced. A preliminary framework of the body of knowledge of model engineering was given based on software engineering,system engineering and some other relative disciplines.
