A simple cumulant based approach for multiuser channel identification

This paper presents a new statistical approach to the blind estimation of linear multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels with finite impulse response. A matrix pencil is constructed from a set of fourth-order cumulant matrices of channel output signals. MIMO channel impulse response can be efficiently estimated from the generalized eigen-decomposition of the cumulant matrix pencil. The proposed new method requires a relaxed channel identifiability condition and does not rely on the exact knowledge of MIMO channel order.
