Recent research linking periodontitis to the risk for adverse birth outcomes has resulted in an increased interest in oral health during pregnancy (Russell and Mayberry 2008). This presentation adds to the growing awareness of the association between periodontal disease and pregnancy outcome and for prenatal care providers to forge a link with dental health providers.
