Detection Of Traffic Congestion Using Fuzzy Operator Logic In ADVANCE-like Systems

In this paper, the authors apply the Fuzzy Operator Logic (FOpL) formalism to automatically detect congestion in a transportation network under Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS). The basic concept of FOpL is described with concern on details crucial to the proposed implementation. Knowledge-based development and principles of program execution are then presented. The algorithm is then applied to an example road link downstream with traffic signals using computer simulation.
