The implementation of the mobile channel simulator in the baseband and its application to the quadrature type GMSK modem design

The baseband fading channel simulator configuration implemented using the TMS320C25 digital signal processor, ADC and DAC, is described. The Rayleigh envelope statistics, such as power spectrum, level crossing rate (LCR), cumulative distribution function (CDF), and probability density function (PDF), are compared respectively to the theoretical prediction at several varying vehicle speeds. When channel simulation is applied to the quadrature-type Gaussian minimum shift-keying (GMSK) with a data transmission rate of 16 kbit/s, the bit error rate (BER) is measured and compared with the theoretical value of the GMSK with the discriminator detection method.<<ETX>>
