Additive Biological Indices for Resource Management

This is not to say that multivariate analysis has no place in biological assessment; on the contrary, it is a most useful tool for exploratory data analysis and classification, which is an important element in the development of biological assessment approaches. Procedures for operational bioassessment should be kept simple and understandable, and procedural and analytic complexity should be kept to a minimum.
