4-channel x 40-Gb/s unrepeatered OTDM transmission over 100-km standard fiber

Four wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) channels, each carrying a 40-Gb/s optical time-division multiplexing (OTDM) data signal, are transmitted over 100-km standard fiber (nondispersion shifted fiber). Bit-error-rate (BER) measurements on all four channels and detailed numerical calculations of the transmission experiment are reported. A single piece of dispersion compensating fiber was used for dispersion postcompensation of all four WDM channels.
