Periodic Control of a Pressure Swing Adsorption Plant

Abstract Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants are used for the separation of gas mixtures. Their periodic operation is achieved by a cyclic reversal of the flow conditions within the adsorbers. Based on the distributed parameter model of the considered two-bed PSA plant, the arising control problem is specified and a reduced model is used for the design of a periodic control strategy. The designed process control is evaluated with the simulated PSA plant model
