Curriculum Management, Instructional Leadership and New Information Technology

Abstract A case for taking advantage of pedagogically‐driven new‐generation Information Management Systems (IMSs), to manage curriculum instruction and assessment in change oriented environments for the purpose of enhancing school effectiveness, is presented. A curriculum information management model is delineated and an exemplar of a new generation of IMS software described. Applications of IMS technology to supervision and instructional leadership are suggested. It is concluded that IMS technologies are a necessary adjunct to the work of schools in an age of uncertainty and change in meeting increased societal expectations for the outcomes of schooling.
