Compressive Properties of PTFE/Al/Ni Composite Under Uniaxial Loading

To investigate the mechanical properties of pressed and sintered PTFE/Al/Ni (polytetrafluoroethylene/aluminum/nickel) composite, uniaxial quasi-static and dynamic compression experiments were conducted at strain rates from 10−2 to 3 × 103/s. The prepared samples were tested by an electrohydraulic press with 300 kN loading capacity and a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) device at room temperature. Experimental results show that PTFE/Al/Ni composite exhibits evident strain hardening and strain rate hardening. Additionally, a bilinear relationship between stress and $${\text{log(}}\dot{\varepsilon } )$$log(ε˙) is observed. The experimental data were fit to Johnson-Cook constitutive model, and the results are in well agreement with measured data.
