New Abilities of the Multiapplication elsA Software in the Field of Turbomachinery Flow Computation

Navier-Stokes solvers are now common tools in current design and analysis of turbomachinery bladings, and their validation is therefore essential. In this context, ONERA is working on the validation of the elsA software, which is a multi application CFD solver using an object-oriented architecture. This paper presents a review of 3D steady computations performed at ONERA on turbomachinery applications with the elsA software. The aim is to show and to present the numeric tools available in the elsA software for such applications. Three turbomachinery applications are presented : the NASA 37 transonic rotor, Vega2’s transonic turbine stage and the experimental ISO cascade.Copyright © 2002 by ASME
