Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for distinguishing counterfeit goods. The apparatus for distinguishing counterfeit goods includes: an authentication information receiving unit which receives status information on an original authentication performance device or authentication identification information including at least one among identification information on an authentication chip of a product to be verified, identification information on the product, and identification verification information from the original authentication performance device; and a counterfeit goods distinguishing unit which distinguishes a counterfeit item based on the status information on the original authentication performance device or the authentication identification information. As the original authentication of a product is verified using the device and the method of the present invention, the intellectual property right of a producer is effectively protected, and a counterfeit item is easily and accurately distinguished.
