Effect of contact pressure and thermal degradation on the sealability of O-ring

Abstract Sealability of the O-ring was analyzed by the investigation of O-ring contact pressure variation affected by the assembly structure and fluid pressure. The effect of the degrading reaction of rubber was also determined. Based on the results of this investigation, design guidelines to keep the O-ring seal reliable were found.
