A Microelectromechanics Based Artificial Cochlea (membac)

SUMMARY This paper describes the design, fabrication and characterization of a microelectromechanics based artificial cochlea (MEMBAC) that imitates the mechano-electrical properties of the cochlea. The MEMBAC is composed of an array of coupled beams that mimic the response of the basilar membrane (BM) in the cochlea by mechanically filtering the acoustic input into frequency bands.
