Quantitative study of sustainable development in an industrial park—— Application of ecological carrying capacity method

In this paper, the authors analyze the structure features of ecological carrying system in industrial parks using the stepping theory of ecological carrying capacity (ECC). According to the features, traditional method of ECC analysis has been modified. A new set of index has been built up, and used to quantitatively assess the ECC in an industrial park in Northeast China. After that, the authors discuss the obstacles faced by this park to sustain its development from the ECC viewpoint, and some suggestions are put forward in the end. From both the theoretical research and the case study, the paper comes to the conclusion that systematic openness is the key factor in quantitative assessment of the sustainable development of industrial parks.
