LARGE AMPLITUDE CHARACTERISTICS OF BOLT-CLAMPED LANGEVIN TYPE VIBRATOR

For designing high-power ultrasonic vibration systems, large -amplitude characteristics of the vibrator are essential. Due to the lack of measurement method and a suitable variable mechanical load, such characteristics have never been measured. Using the wattmeter method and a variable mechanical load resistance proposed by the authors, large amplitude characteristics of a bolt-clamped Langevin type vibrator, which is one of the most powerful ones and widely used, is tried to be measured and proved to be successfully measured. The maximum mechanical output power of a bolt-clamped vibrator is, for example, more than 1.5 kW and the electroacoustic efficiency is as high as 96% at an optimum load resistance.
