Determination of left ventricular volumes and ejection fraction by echocardiography

In the past few years remarkable advances have been made in accuracy of cardiac diagnosis by external graphic techniques. The latest of these, echocardiography, differs from previous methods in that it penetrates the surface of the chest to provide information regarding movements of ventricular walls, septum and valves. It offers the opportunity to obtain quantitative data on cardiac function without trauma or risk to the patient.
