Osteogenic sarcoma with calcified renal metastasis.

Although metastasis to the kidney from osteogenic sarcoma is found in as many as 12 per cent of necropsies (McKenna, Schwinn, Soong and Higinbotham, 1966), pre-mortem rontgenographic diagnosis is uncommon. Our review of the English literature revealed only one previously illustrated case (Marshall and Drake, 1950). The preponderance of pulmonary metastasis and symptoms probably explains the rarity of well-studied renal lesions. The more unusual condition of primary renal osteogenic sarcoma is frequently reported since the presenting complaint focuses attention on the urinary tract (Das Gupta, Hajdu and Foote, 1968; Herbut, 1952; Johnson, Ancona, Johnson and Pineda, 1970; Soto, Rader, Martin and Gregowicz, 1965).
