SURVEY OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS FOR SOLUTION OF NONLINEAR STRUCTURAL AND SOLID MECHANICS PROBLEMS

Publisher Summary This chapter presents a survey of computer programs for solution of nonlinear structural and solid mechanics problems. It provides an overview of the current capabilities of 36 computer programs that can be used for solution of nonlinear structural and solid mechanics problems. These programs range from the large, general-purpose codes with a broad spectrum of capabilities, rich variety of element types, and large user community and comprehensive user support to the small and special-purpose codes with limited user community such as BEAM, BRICK, PAC78, and WHAMS. The final selection of the program to be used should be based on a detailed examination of the documentation and the literature about the program.
