Sliding Mode Fault Tolerant Control Allocation with Saturation Avoidance for a Blended Wing Body Aircraft

This paper proposes a sliding mode controller with priority weighted control allocation and a saturation mitigating component. The control scheme aims to reduce degradation to the system’s performance in the presence of faults and failures whilst keeping the actuators within their physical limits. Simulation results from a model of a blended wing body’s lateral dynamics demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme.
