Principles and Algorithms for Transmission in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Broadband Multiuser Systems

This work deals with fundamental and practical approaches to transmission in point-to-multipoint communication systems employing multicarrier modulation schemes and an arbitrary number of transmit and receive antennas. The combination of both multiple antenna technology and multicarrier modulation is broadly considered to be key in order to reach the rates expected in so-called fourth generation systems. Beside a number of information theoretic results and considerations, a class of algorithms is presented that allow for a non-iterative computation of transmission strategies that perform nearly optimally for three design criteria of interest. So far optimum solutions for these criteria can only be obtained by applying computationally expensive iterative algorithms.
