Mechanically induced long period fiber grating and its application for distributed sensing

A mechanically induced long period fiber grating is demonstrated and its transmittance characteristics are investigated experimentally. The fiber grating has the advantages of both the pliability in installation and the changeability of its transmittance characteristics.
