Automatic inspection for printed wiring

Abstract : Automatic visual inspection of PWBs(Printed Wiring Boards) is a technology which is just about to arrive. A new machine will appear on the factory floor which actually looks at what it is doing. The arrival of this machine has been marked by years of research, and it is likely that years more of research will be invested in its perfection. But for now, a practical and economically rewarding device is available. As in any new technology, it is important to consider the long-term goals as well as the short-term rewards. PWB inspection stations primarily serve quality control functions, but they hold great potential in serving process control functions. We are on the verge of having devices which can bring tireless and intelligent vision to the process of PWB fabrication.
